Peter Brennan of London's own Jeans 'n Classics score's big with Roger Hodgson formerly of Supertramp Peter Brennan, known best across Canada and the US for his rock arrangements for symphony orchestra, will score a full symphony show for Roger Hodgson, ex- Supertramp. The Canadian concert tour boasting Brennan's arrangements will kick off in London at the London Convention Centre on July 15, then move to Windsor for the International Bluesfest on July 16 and back to Kitchener Waterloo to Centre in the Square on July 17. The Canada wide tour will launch in the Fall playing 12 to 15 Canadian cities. Rogers Hodgson's unique voice and trademark way of setting a thought provoking lyric to an upbeat melody created a style that proved appealing time and again - "Dreamer", "The Logical Song" "Take the Long Way Home", and "Give a Little Bit" ultimately helped to drive worldwide sales of Supertramp albums to a staggering 80 million. At its peak, in 1979, the band enjoyed the biggest-selling album in the world that year with "Breakfast in America", Hodgson's contribution to this success was obvious and appreciated, by both the record-buying public and the music industry alike. In 1980, "The Logical Song" was named Best Song Musically and Lyrically at England's prestigious Ivor Novello Awards. Since then, Roger has released several solo albums. "This is such an exciting opportunity", says Brennan, "Not only do I love Roger's music, but it is so symphony friendly. Songs like "Breakfast in America" and "Fools Overture" will be so incredible to arrange for orchestra. I am really thrilled". "It will be a satisfying thing for me to work with my home orchestra, Orchestra London in at least three of the centres on this tour. They are perfect for this opportunity after being so loyal to the Jeans 'n Classics product for so many years". Including the now confirmed opening act, Peter Brennan goes on to reminisce, "I don't think there's anyone who has lived in London for the last 30 years who doesn't remember two great concert moments, one was Supertramp at J.W. Little Stadium and the other was Glass Tiger in Victoria Park, we will have both Roger Hodgson and Alan Frew on stage. These will be concerts full of magic." The ever-animated Alan Frew comments, "I am very excited about sharing the stage with Roger Hodgson, he is such a brilliant songwriter and I am truly honoured to have the opportunity". |
