Roger Hodgson performing for the first time in Disney, I could not miss it !
In Disneyworld you are constantly reminded that "this is the place where dreams come true".
This amazing place is the creation from an incredible big dreamer, Walt Disney, so the perfect place for another great dreamer and his crazy dreamer fans ....
Indeed I had spent the day at the theme park of Disney Hollywood studios, where several exhibitions about the work and ideas of Walt Disney, that shocked to me, and I have to admit I thought that Roger's magical show was a perfect tribute to Walt in his "magical world." I felt touched.... I'm a romantic....
A nice stage in Epcot (Disney theme park of science and future), within the World showcase section, in the American pavillion next to the lake. Three mini-concert half an hour each on Thursday evening, and three more on Friday.
Mainly focused on the greatest hits, but also other great numbers thanks to the presence of many fans that Roger wanted to please too.
Moreover, due to requests from fans, Roger delighted us with "Two of us", "Child of vision", and excerpts of "Fool's Overture" and "Hide in your shell" and others. Great moments for die hard fans, like the superb playing in "Child of vision", Roger on electric piano and Aaron on grand piano. Wow !!!
I was the only European fan there, when Roger saw me he said my name from the stage to thank me.... You can imagine my surprise and mutual appreciation: o)
Thanks Roger! It was a pleasure to see you again !
And we met other American fans, some old friends from previous tours.
Aaron McDonald on saxophone and keyboards, everything sounded great, and many people told me that Roger's voice sounded as strong as years ago, he sounded better than ever with his voice and guitar, keyboard and piano playing. Fans realized the major improvements which have been included during last tours by Aaron and his keyboard and other effects (which I already knew from other concerts, like the wa-wa sound applied to acoustic guitar in "School", for exemple) and they enjoyed the good sound and they had a nice time. (More unbiased opinions than mine, I usually go to many Roger's concerts)
In the last set Aaron appeared on stage wearing funny ears "Minnie mousse" on his head (See photos) during whole show as a tribute to his daughter that was around there. He tried remove, but Roger said, "Hey, I don't recognize you now!" provoking laughs from the audience, so he putted it again : o)
The stands were full, lot of people, even really crowded in the night concerts. I didn't think many people would come to the concerts within an amusement park, everybody busy on attractions, you know, but the theatre was crowded and therefore the atmosphere was phenomenal.
At the end of last show, both days, Roger was signing autographs and greeting all the fans who waited patiently. And after that, right there, we were able to see all together the spectacle "IllumiNations" in the lake, with lights, laser and fireworks (it reminded to me the night shows in the lake during Universal Expo-92 in Seville, Spain)
I'd like to thank Roger and team, Frank, Linda G., Robin, and other friends, they made me feel at home.
During my trip I also visited NASA, Space shuttle launch at Cape Canaveral, Miami and the Keys, etc ... but that's another story: o)

Además es un parque en donde te recuerdan constantemente que es el lugar donde los sueños se hacen realidad.
Precisamente yo había pasado el día en el parque temático de los estudios Disney, donde hay varias exposiciones sobre la obra y figura de Walt Disney, que me impactaron, y tengo que reconocer que me pareció un homenaje perfecto para Walt el concierto de Roger en su "mundo magico". Me sentí muy sensibilizado. Romántico que es uno....
El concierto fué en un escenario fantástico del parque Epcot (el parque Disney temático de la ciencia y el futuro), en el pabellón americano del World showcase, junto al lago. Tres mini-conciertos de media hora la tarde-noche del jueves y otros tres el vienes.
Basicamente enfocado a los grandes éxitos, pero también gracias a la presencia de muchos fans nos dedicó otros grandes temas de su discografía.
Es más, improvisadamente debido a las peticiones de fans nos deleitó con "Two of us", "Child of vision", o extractos de "Fool's overture" y "Hide in your shell" entre otros. Momentos increíbles para los fans incondicionales que nos encontrábamos allí. Inolvidable como siempre la interpretación de"Child od Vision" con Roger al piano electrico y Aaron al piano de cola. Guauuuu !
Gracias Roger ! Fué un placer verte de nuevo !
Y nos encontramos con otros fans americanos, algunos ya viejos conocidos de giras anteriores.
Los conciertos fueron con Aaron McDonald, todo sonó estupendamente, y muchos me comentaron la gran voz que conserva Roger, que suena todo mejor que nunca gracias a las grandes mejoras que han incluido por parte de Aaron y su teclado y otros efectos en las últimas giras (que yo ya conocía de otros conciertos, como el sonido gua-gua aplicado a la guitarra acústica en el tema "School" por ejemplo) el buen sonido y lo bien que se lo han pasado. (opiniones mas imparciales que la mía, que suelo acudir a muchos conciertos de Roger)
En el último de los conciertos Aaron apareció en el escenario con unas graciosas orejas de "Minnie mousse" sobre la cabeza (ver fotos) que llevó durante todo el show, como homenaje a su hija que corría por alli. En cierto momento intentó quitárselas, pero Roger le dijo "Hey, no te reconozco ahora ! " provocando las carcajadas de la gente, así que se las volvió a poner :o)
Las gradas estaban llenas, abarrotadas en los conciertos de la noche, lleno total. No pensaba que se acercarían tantos fans en un parque de atracciones, donde todo el mundo anda disfrutando las atracciones, normal, pero así fué y por tanto el ambiente fué fenomenal, como cualquier otro concierto.
Al final de cada noche Roger estuvo firmando autógrafos y saludando a todos los fans que esperaron pacientemente. Y justo después allí mismo el espectáculo del lago "IlumiNations", con luces, laser y fuegos artificiales, que recuerda mucho al show nocturno del lago de la Expo-92 de Sevilla.
No quiero desaprovechar la ocasión para dar las gracias a Roger y su equipo, Frank, Linda G., Robin y demás amigos por lo bien que nos lo pasamos allí.
También aproveché el viaje para visitar la NASA, el lanzamiento del Space shuttle en Cabo Cañaveral, Miami y los cayos, etc,... pero eso es otra historia :o)
